§ 2.71.020. Membership—Qualification—Appointment.

  • A.

    The committee shall be composed of nine voting members to be nominated by the mayor and, with the advice and consent of the commission, to be appointed by him.

    B.

    One member shall be a county commissioner, and four members shall be city commissioners, one from each commission district.

    C.

    The city manager and the city engineer shall be non-voting ex-officio members.

    D.

    Three citizen committee members shall be residents of the city, and one citizen committee member shall be a resident of Curry County outside the city.

    E.

    The four citizen members of the committee shall have staggered terms.

    F.

    After the expiration of the initial terms, all citizen members shall be appointed for terms of two years.

    G.

    Vacancies resulting from the death, resignation or removal of a member shall be filled by appointment for unexpired portion of the term of the member creating the vacancy.

    H.

    Members of the committee shall serve without compensation.

    I.

    One member of the county administration, a representative of the New Mexico-American Water Company, a representative of the Central Curry Soil and Water Conservation Board, and a representative from Eastern Plains Council of Governments shall serve as ex-officio, non-voting members.
