Latest version.
  • A.

All items for city commission action must be identified on the commission meeting agenda with specific action identified. Any member of the commission, the mayor, the city manager, or the city attorney may place any matter on the agenda. All agenda items requiring action must be placed on the agenda at least seventy-two hours prior to the commission meeting.

    B.

Commissioners requesting discussion, leading to specific action by the commission, may have any item placed on the regular meeting agenda by contacting the assistant city clerk. Commissioners may also initiate discussion by making a request at the commission meeting, for future consideration of such items. Any items requiring significant commitment of staff time for research or preparation should be coordinated through the city manager's office.

    C.

Commissioners who desire to discuss items that are not on the agenda and that do not require immediate city commission action may do so at any time allowed by the presiding officer, usually at the conclusion of business on the regular agenda.

    D.

Citizens wishing to address the city commission concerning matters not on the agenda may do so at the time citizen comments are called for by the presiding officer. Questions asked by persons addressing the city commission may be referred to the staff for response and/or action as is appropriate and determined by the presiding officer or the city commission. Citizens are entitled to address the commission on items that appear on the agenda when they are discussed by the city commission.

    E.

Citizens who propose specific action to be taken by the commission shall submit the appropriate information in writing to the assistant city clerk. The request shall be placed upon the agenda at the next regularly scheduled commission meeting, provided adequate notice can be given.
